Welcome to New York!

I’ve been waiting since Christmas for this adventure! Chad and I went up to New York for the day!! What you say? New York? Yes, New York City!! Its only a three-hour train ride from DC to NYC. Crazy right?!

Last spring we talked with a 3L at George Washington who was about to graduate. His job at the lunch was trying to persuade all the accepted students to choose GW Law. One of the perks he mentioned about GW was how much stuff there is to do! And how so much is so close. He mentioned that he and his wife had been up to NYC multiple times during his law school days. Since then I’ve wanted to go!

Chad made it possible this Christmas when he bought us train tickets and WICKED tickets! I was ecstatic and could not wait! We left early Saturday morning and rode the train. I was surprised at how nice of a ride it was, if we go again we are definitely going by train.

Once we got to NYC we took the subway down to the 9/11 Memorial. It was cool to go there because Chad had been to the twin towers when he was really young, and I had been there just a couple years after 9/11 when it was still a pretty big mess. Seeing it completely finished was great.

Next we went to WICKED! BEST THING EVER!! Every time I see it, it gets better and better! I had a hard time not singing along with every song.

Outside of Wicked!!

Afterwards we went to Times Square and got some New York style pizza! It was delicious as expected (I love thin crust!). We walked to the Rockefeller Center, and upon Chad’s request went to the Lego store. The Lego store was much more interesting than I anticipated and both of us lost track of time… so much so that we only had 20 minutes to get to our train! We RAN, to the wrong subway station… Then we RAN to the correct subway, and had to wait 7 minutes… By the time we got to the train station we only had 3 minutes until our train was to leave, so we RAN some more! We literally were running down the platform yelling to the worker “wait, wait, two more, we’re coming!” Luckily the guy heard us, and waited. Right when we stepped on the train it started moving. We definitely cut it too close! But we made it.

Our day trip to New York was definitely an adventure! It was so much fun being able to spend the entire day with Chad. I can’t wait to go back! Anybody have suggestions for good Broadway Musicals?
