Kate & Karl's Weddings

Chad and I have seriously been traveling A TON the last month! I felt like every other week we’ve been going on another trip, but it’s because we have. This past week we were able to go out to Utah again, for a couple of our friend’s weddings!! It was so much fun to be able to see all of our friends again!

We started the weekend with Karl and R’s wedding dinner up at the lodge. The entire “man cave” was there and it truly was a blast! After catching up and eating some awesome home-cooked food everybody headed toward the foosball table. The two games I was able to play my team won! (Thanks Melinda and Karl for being great teammates!). It’s crazy the entire “man cave” is now married, (minus Pele, you’re next!) with “man cave babies,” only two so far, but its so weird to think that some of Chad’s friends have KIDS!

The next day was BUSY. We started by heading to the Salt Lake City Temple, where we waited for the beautiful bride MRS Kate Edington to come out of the temple with her new husband! Kate was absolutely glowing!! Truly beautiful. Right when Kate came out it was time to run into the temple for Karl and R’s wedding.

Weddings in the LDS Church are different than any other church. The ceremonies are performed in our temples, and only members in good standing are able to be present. The actual ceremony is very short, but so beautiful. It is a promise between God, the husband, and the wife. As long as husband and wife keep their end, and obey God’s commandments, God will bless them, one way being that they will be able to be together forever, as well as with their family. This is why it is often referred to as a sealing – sealing families together for eternity.

Before the actual ceremony/sealing, the couple is given advice. I always love going to sealings because of the advice given. At Karl and R’s the advice was really good! Probably because the advice giver was none other than one of my old neighbors, Brother Mangelson! He is a very sweet old man. He talked about the 5 C’s of Marriage: Communication, Commitment, Courtship, Conserve, Consecration.

I really loved what he talked about regarding each of the 5 C’s. I’ve found in mine and Chad's marriage that each topics are very important! In fact without them I feel that it’d be hard to have any type of relationship!

After the sealing it was time for Chad and I to part ways. Each of us went to different receptions, one in Sandy, and one in Bountiful. Kate’s reception was beautiful! It was so great to catch up with old friends and to see Kate and Landon so happy together! Weddings just make me so happy!

A surprise this weekend was one of my best friend’s getting engaged! (CONGRATS EM & DAVID!) I felt so special to be invited by David to come celebrate the proposal/engagement after he popped the question! It felt so special, especially because Emily helped Chad with our proposal! I’m so so excited for them!

I can't wait to come back to Utah in June for their wedding!
Congrats Em & David!!
Being in VA has been great, but I sure do miss my family, so of course one of the best parts about coming back to Utah for weddings was being able to see my family again!! They are so much fun and do so much for both Chad and I. It was great being able to spend a little time with them in-between wedding events. Thanks Mom and Dad for the awesome trip!

That’s all for now folks!
