The Graduate

On April 19, 2014 Chad finished taking his last final at Brigham Young University, and oh boy he was excited to be done! He could not wait to open his presents, unfortunately for him they weren't as exciting as he was probably hoping.

Chad finished his finals!

The day of graduation was a very busy day. We started the morning off by attending the wedding of one of Chad's cousins at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. It was a beautiful ceremony and a beautiful day, especially for pictures!

Beautiful Tulips at the temple!

I couldn't resist getting a picture with Chad looking so snazzy :)

Afterwards we headed home to enjoy some Little Caesars pizza before the graduation ceremony. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't very excited to sit through and watch everybody graduate. And actually Chad didn't want to walk in the first place, but when I found out I could potentially walk with him we decided we should do it. Well, long story short there was a slight potential that I may not graduate until April 2015 instead of December 2014 so I decided not to walk since it could potentially be an entire year in advance. Unfortunately for Chad, he was still signed up to walk, and I kind of wanted him to walk, so he walked.

Chad was a little bored waiting

Chad said he was a little nervous walking across the stage, but he didn't trip, got his diploma and then walked right up the stairs and out! It was the quickest graduation ceremony I have ever been to. We were able to take pictures and get ice cream all before the entire ceremony had actually finished. Since my parents drove down from Salt Lake, and had to go to a wedding dinner it was nice we had time to take pictures with them without feeling rushed.

A couple of paragraphs about Chad and his accomplishments while at BYU were featured in the Perkins Posterity - UV Perkins Family Newspaper. I thought it might be fun to share part of it :)
Chad graduated from Brigham Young University on April 25, 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a minor in Business Management. While at BYU he served as Vice-President of Y-serve, BYU's community service organization. Among his many service awards his most prized one is the Jamie Taylor Spirit of Service Award. This is the highest award given within BYU's Y-Serve office. Chad is also a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society. This last year he published an article for BYU's prelaw review. Also while at BYU Chad became famous when he and some friends spelled "YES" on Y-mountain in response to a dance invitation as a freshman, which could be seen across Utah Valley.
He participated in many intramural activities. During Intramural's he won a championship in 6v6 men's volleyball, while trying in vain in both basketball and soccer every semester.

Chad has now almost completed his first semester in law school.  He is really enjoying what he is learning, although he is very excited to get a break. Life in Virginia is great! Hope all is well everywhere else :)
