THE FIRST DATE

When Chad asked me on our first date at first I was a little surprised but Chad was known for taking a lot of girls on first dates (not very many second dates) and being a super fun date and being a great friend so I was excited J. I invited her to go with me to the Orem Carnival.

So Friday rolls around and we head to the carnival around 4 pm. He picked me up and we drove to the carnival in his car “Gus” (may he rest in peace)  not going to lie it was a little scary. Not that Chad was a bad driver just that Gus was a little old…My dad owns two car shops/tire stores and has taught me to NEVER drive a car if a light on the dash comes on that shouldn’t be and ALL of the lights possible were on in Gus….But we arrived there safely.

This is a picture of Gus when he died... :(

We buy a few tickets and start with the slow rides like the Ferris Wheel which was a very pleasant ride. She was quite scared up at the top I’m scared of falling and it was a big, rickety Ferris Wheel….so I rocked the seat a little bit and she kept putting her hand on top of mine because she was scared and I thought she was signaling she wanted to hold it. No. I was trying to get him to stop from rocking the seat! I was soooo scared! Apparently it was taken the wrong way… I thought to myself that’d be nice, but not my style on the first date.

Unfortunately we didn't take pictures on our date
but here is picture of a Ferris Wheel that is similar.
Look how rickety the seats look! SCARY!!

After each ride we’d talk and walk around looking at some of the booths. This was because every single ride was made with the intent to make you sick…I’ve never felt so sick to my stomach before from a ride…it was super fun though and I loved the thrill of all of the rides! Chad even taught me how to go upside down on the ride like in “Sandlot” where you spin really really fast and the floor falls out from underneath you.

This is like the ride where we went UPSIDE down! It was sooo cool!

Talking with Alli was so easy. I do not remember a moment where talking was difficult or where if there was any silence it was not awkward. I remember going to a booth that had foam swords and the owners son was about 4-5 years old. We were looking at the foam swords and then the little kid grabbed one of the foam swords and started fighting with Alli haha. I thought it was pretty attractive when she grabbed a foam sword and started playing with him. Although I was jealous because I wanted to play. Chad was super jealous! He soo wanted to fight the little kid with the sword. Chad is probably the cutest boy I’ve ever seen play with kids. He is always so fun and willing to play with them. He himself is probably a three year old and it is just so cute! I love it!!
We also ran upon a booth that had paintings of Christ. I had worked at a store that had an art gallery so I have grown an appreciation for art and these paintings of Christ were just awesome. I really wanted to buy one, but wasn’t sure if buying myself one on the first date was kosher if I didn’t buy her one, and I did not bring enough cash to buy her one as well. So we were talking with the owner of the booth and he could see my interest in the paintings (I’ve never been good at hiding my thoughts). I made small chat about how I worked in a gallery and he told me the price was only ten dollars and I was astonished so I couldn’t resist and he even threw in a free picture for Alli, so I didn’t feel bad about buying one for myself :). That was totally fine and the picture he bought was so pretty! I love it so much J It is the picture I asked Chad if we could put in our bedroom when we get married. Hence, why when he proposed he had gotten a bigger picture just for me!! J

Like I said we didn't take pictures on this date but here is a
picture of Chad with the picture he bought on this date.
Isn't it such a pretty picture?!
We eventually went on one of the rides that make you dizzy and feel sick. He means the LAST ride we went on. ALL of the rides made you feel dizzy and sick So we both wanted to lie on the grass to get our bearings back. Somehow we ended up holding hands. I thought you said that wasn’t your style ;) Just kidding, yes that is true. I don’t think either of us planned for it to happen but somehow it just did. And it was nice J Except after standing up to walk around Chad kept holding it. Not going to lie I felt weird. I barely even knew this kid and he was holding my hand in public! The date lasted 7 hours what is known as a marathon date yet it felt like the shortest date I had ever been on. Yes such a long date! But it was so much fun!! After the carnival we even helped each other kill people for our Ward’s game of Assassin. From that day on we have seen each other nearly everyday.

P.S. Our next blog will be about our boating adventure and trip to the ER
